Looking forward to a day it nothing tomorrow
Recently I found a game called 8 Realms, it is currently in closed beta, however if you Google around or just Like their page on Facebook, you’ll pick up a key and be able to start playing. I’ll warn you now, the tutorial is incredibly long and slow and you’ll spend the best part of 24 hours completing it (or at least completing it fully – which you should do anyway if you want to be half decent at the game). It is an “MMORTS” game which seem to be getting quite popular recently – this one is free though.
At first I was a bit sceptical about the game, it was a little too slow, but once I realised I didn’t need to put that much effort in to it all the time I was quite happy to play the game, as long as I remembered to pop back in a few hours to improve my empire, or go to war with someone.
The game is actually really fun and is something which you can play with minimal effort – so it is quite good for those who work all day and have about 10 minutes to spend playing games, you can get quite a lot done in that time – well, you can start a lot of tasks in that time which may take hours to complete. This also adds to the addiction of the game – knowing that in 1hour time you will be able to play more makes you want to keep going back.
Recently I’ve just had a couple of large pieces of coursework submitted, and I’ve currently got exams to revise for, so naturally I procrastinated to such an extend I decided to freshen up my blog by redesigning it, and this is it! I decided that I wanted to be colourful this time, so I was. It served as the ultimate procrastination and was much better than revising about something generic and geeky.
So, this is my new blog. On it you will *eventually* find photos of where I’ve been travelling and little snaps of my life, information about myself, some projects I am/have been working on.
I also want tutorials on my blog this time. Tutorials are cool, not to mention they kind of half motivate me to try out new things. This one set of tutorials I want to do is RTS agents with basic path finding in OpenGL. We’ll see how things go on that given I don’t have much time to do anything in life at the moment anyway. We’ll see how things go.
